Mold & Bacteria Allergies
Bacteria, both human associated and environmental, are present in most indoor and outdoor environments. Bacteria range in size from less than 1 micron to 10 microns in size. Many types of human associated bacteria can be harmful to the human body and in the case of the bacteria “anthrax” some can be deadly. HEPA filters easily capture Bacteria from the air. HEPA filters are the only type of filter media used in applications such as surgery suites as they will absolutely remove any bacteria and viruses from the air to eliminate the possibility of infection.Mold, like bacteria, is present in both indoor and outdoor environments. There are many types of mold and in all cases mold is usually present whenever there is water or moisture present. Mold, is larger than Bacteria, it normally ranges in size from 5 to 15 microns and is easily removed and captured by the HEPA filters.
Higher concentrations of bacteria and mold can create problems (mold or bacteria allergies) for individuals with sensitivities to mold as well as healthy individuals. Some molds are extremely toxic (acute mold allergies) and can cause significant health problems. Mold spores can easily become airborne and can easily be removed by the HEPA filters in the HEPA Shield systems. It is necessary to locate the water or moisture source and eliminate or reduce the source as the mold problems will persist as long as water is present.
