Pure Air Systems' new portable system is ideal for apartments, condominiums or recreational vehicles or any place that good air quality is wanted, yet there may not be the room available for a quality whole house air filtration system.
Gas and Odor Removal
Common household and pet odors are generated by cleaning chemicals, cooking, building materials, furniture, cigarette smoking, etc. Some gases or VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds) are caused by the out-gassing of things such as carpet sizing, wood veneers, stains, paints, and caulking materials. In most cases, outgassing from building materials will dissipate over time (usually 3 to 6 months). For individuals who are chemically sensitive, these gases may pose a longer term problem.The Pure Air Systems line of filtration systems includes a carbon media module for reduction and removal of pet odors and gases. We also offer our OA version or Pet Odor Absorber units that uses all carbon or a mixture of adsorptive medias in-lieu of the HEPA filter. The HEPA Shield systems come standard with a 5 lb to 15 lb carbon media for adsorption of pet odors, cigarette smoke and gases. We also offer Alumina, Coconut Shell Carbon, and Triple Blend medias for reduction/removal of harmful household gases such as formaldehyde and styrene.
The throw-away filters that are supplied with the HVAC systems are used to keep the blower/motor clean and will remove particles that are 20 to 30 microns in size only. The alternate filters available such as the electrostatic filters, general duty smoke removal pleated media, and electronic are slightly better but DO NOT remove the smaller less than 2 micron sized cigarette smoke and pet odor particles that are harmful. TRUE HEPA filters remove almost 100% of smoke odor particles less than .3 microns in size and are even efficient at removing smoke odor particles below .012 microns.
