In the 60’s Eric Burton of the rock group The Animals sang a song about a lost soul. The name of the song was Tobacco Road. The animals and song went on to become an iconic part of early rock and roll. Along the same lines the product tobacco had also become one the most influential soft drugs in the US and around the world. Nicotine, one of the main components of cigarettes and other tobacco related products, is also one of the most addictive compounds legally allowed in every country in the world.

In addition to the nicotine that is harmful to the user, the cotinine that is released as a result of burning the nicotine is a sticky material that sticks to everything it touches and releases an odor that lingers for a long period of time. Attempting to remove this airborne gaseous compound is difficult as it requires both carbon for adsorption of the odor as well as filter media ( usually HEPA filters) to capture the very fine airborne particulates that are released by the cigarette.

Because of the nature of the two emissions both the carbon and media filters ( HEPA ) need to be changed frequently making it very expensive and challenging to remove cigarette smoke in a room or enclosed area. This is one of the major reasons whey smoking is now prohibited in almost every public building and most restaurants.

My name is Don Musilli. I started Pure Air Systems in 1985 and then sold it in 2006. I continue to consult for PAS and write their blog and control their Twitter account. I also, on occasion, make changes to the website. The company is now almost 26 years old and has been a major player in offering commercial grade, high performance HEPA and Carbon based filtration systems for the commercial, institutional, industrial and residential markets.

I currently reside in Englewood, Florida where I write blogs and do social media marketing for a number of clients.
