The new import tariffs against China and other countries will make component parts and about 80% of what we purchase, more expensive. There is little truth in the fact that many of the companies that are overseas will now return to U.S. shores. Unfortunately, all the companies overseas are either owned and operated locally or are part of an international partner. For all intents and purposes, the U.S. has pretty much given up on building new manufacturing plants as most larger corporations would rather design products here and have them made somewh   ere else. Or if they are going to manufacture in the U.S. they will be using Robotics and few people. 

Intel, one of the largest and most profitable companies in the world, just stopped production of two huge Chip Manufacturing plants in Ohio because of slower chip demand and the fact they have lost over $186 Billion in their stock. They hired a new CEO and put the plants on hold until 2030. Making anything is very difficult, especially high end tech products. Apple designs their iPhones, etc, but they are all manufactured overseas.
