Using Air Filtration System As An Air Curtain

Air curtains are designed to be placed above a large door or opening to create an “air barrier” so to speak, that will keep the air from one side of the curtain from entering the other side of the curtain. This is accomplihed using a high volume industrial blower and fan with a fairly powerful motor. Usually 1/2 HP to 1HP. The air is produced by the fan and forced through manifold that is placed along the top edge of the door and extends the entire width of the door. The opening of the flow side of the manifold is very small in comparison to the air entry side of the blower. This design create a venturi affect that jets air downward at a very high velocity.

Pure Air Systems has a series of fan-powered HEPA based air filtration systems that can be used as the main source of fan power for an air curtain while also maintaining a contaminant free air door. These HEPA air curtains are often used in food processing, medical product manufacturing, laboratories and medical facilities. The main advantage is the speed of entering or exiting a room without having to open or close a door. This is a real advangtage when the door opening is very wide and would require either double doors or a horizontal sliding door. In addition, you could have more than one person moving throught the opening at one time.

Pure Air Systems has been manufacturing HEPA and Carbon based air filtration systems that are fan-powered and with all metal housings since 1985. These units range in air flow volume from a low of 50 CFM to 2,000 CFM. The PAS units come standard with a true, scanned HEPA filter, Carbon Filter and Prefilter. All components are made in the USA.
