Air Filtration For Coastal Areas

If you live on or near the coast line of the U.S. you know the pleasure of looking out over the water and hearing the crashing of the waves and that smell that only comes from being near a body of water. For most people it is very cathartic.

However, with the changing climate conditions and the continued lack of concern over dumping a wide variety of trash into our oceans and lakes, the development of various Algae and toxins is now being found off many coasts.

These toxins are airborne and are harmful to coastal birds, fish and humans. These airborne bacteria range in size from 3 to 10 microns and are not visible with the naked eye. This makes it more difficult to deal with as most people are concerned with what they can see.

In 1985, Pure Air Systems was founded and developed a high end HEPA based air filtration systems that could be attached to any force air ducted heating/cooling system with the ability to clean the entire home 24 to 48 times per day.

PAS uses scanned HEPA filters. These filters are certified to capture 99.99% of all particles 0.3 and larger and up to 99.95% of all particles 0.12 microns in size over time. This means they will remove any and all of the harmful airborne bacteria that comes on shore from the oceans and lakes .

For people with respiratory issues or asthma, these airborne particulate can exacerbate their ability to breath normally without some type of respirator or having to remain indoors when these toxic bacteria are released into the air.

PAS makes a line of fan powered HEPA filtration systems that include a small portable HEPA unit that can move up to 350 CFM of air to our largest system which can move up to 2,000 CFM of air. Except for the portable, the models 600HS, 1200HS and 2000HS can either be attached to an HVAC system or used as stand-alone units. .

Air Filtration For Asthmatics

For most individuals the ability to breathe is so automatic we almost never even think about the process. Only when we are subjected to a high amount of airborne dust or particulate or near smoke do we find it somewhat difficult to breathe.

For people who suffer from Asthma or other respiratory dysfunctions the ability to breathe normally is not taken for granted. They are very aware that at anytime they may suffer from an Asthma attack or their ability to breathe due to either their illness, airborne particulate or both.

Pure Air Systems has been manufacturing commercial grade HEPA based air filtration systems since 1985. These fan powered units are designed to work in concert with any type of HVAC system or as stand-alone units. And, these systems utilize the ECM variable speed drive motors so air volume control can be finite and they can be used anywhere in the world.

The PAS units can be attached to almost any home HVAC unit and provide a very high degree of airborne particulate removal of the size of the particulate that affects those individuals with respiratory dysfunctions.

The HEPA filters used in the line of systems offered by Pure Air Systems are called scanned HEPA filters. These filters have an initial efficiency of 99.99% at 0.3 microns and become more efficiency as they begin to collect the particulate.  You can see a 20 micron sized particle with the naked eye and these particles are normally aspirated in and then expelled easily.  The smaller particles, those less than 10 microns in size are easily trapped in the mucus membranes of the lungs and can cause irritation. These are the particles that create real health issues for those who suffer from Asthma.

Air Filtration For Your Factory Office

Offices that are adjacent to a factory floor are often a problem for the staff that works in these environments. The door that provides access to the factory also provides an entry way for the dust and dirt generated by the factory into the office. When an employee enters the office from the floor he or she may have particles of dust and dirt carried on their clothing especially if this is a machining operation or where there is powdered materials being handled.

Also, if the office is air condition with a central heating/cooling system it is often the case that the office space is under a slight negative pressure when the HVAC fan is running. This compounds the issue by pulling in air from the factory area every time the access door is opened.

One way to eliminate this issue is to place a fan powered, HEPA based air filtration system by Pure Air Systems in the room directly or attached to the return air ducting from the main HVAC system.

The Pure Air Systems unit can assist in both keeping the air clean as well as make the room positive rather than negative. If the unit is placed in the room as a stand alone unit is can bring in a small amount of air from outside to help pressure the area or, use the same concept of outside air introduction if attached to the return air duct from the air handler.

In either case the PAS HEPA unit will significantly reduce or remove a very large percentage of the airborne particulate at an efficiency of 99.99% at 03 microns or larger.  The fan powered systems come in a variety of sizes  ranging from 350 CFM to 2000 CFM units. These systems can be adjusted with the digital controller option to run at any speed from 10 % up to 100% in 1% increments.

The systems use the ECM motors which are rated at 120/240 Volt, 50.60 Hz. So they can be used in any country.

Pure Air Systems New Website

Back in 1992 the internet was just starting to become more relevant and the only site that you could surf ( a term we used back then ) was Internet Explorer by Microsoft.

Pure Air Systems understood the value of using the internet as a mechanism for promoting our company and its’ products. Pure Air Systems was founded in 1985 so for the first 7 years we used traditional mailings and the phone for all of our marketing.

In 1992 we found a small company that could build a website and we set up https://www.pureairsystems.com.  The name has not changed in 26 years but the website has gone through a number of changes since its birth on the internet.

The first website looked more like what we call a landing page today. It was one page with photos that were not very good and some basic information on the products and our phone number and email address.

Two years later we created a more in-depth website that gave more information and better descriptions of our line of HEPA and Carbon based air filtration systems. That site had the Pure Air University section which was designed to provide objective information on all types of air filtration devices. This allowed potential customers to gain some knowledge about all the competitive types of air filters so they could make a more objective decision on selecting a system that would work best for their specific problem.

The new site has a great new look and is much  easier to navigate. Pure Air Systems only makes commercial grade air filtration systems which are used for both commercial and residential applications. This was not well understood with the previous website.

Pure Air Systems has been around since 1985 and is one of the most successful air filtration companies in North America for supplying commercial grade, high performance, fan powered HEPA based air filtration systems for the residential, commercial, institutional, medical and industrial markets.

Pure Air Systems Made In The USA

There is a long history of issues with much of manufacturing moving out of the US. For the most part a lot of the reasons were high  labor costs and corporate greed. In many cases the Asian markets had developed more companies that did injection molding and machining processes that were considerably less expensive with the ability to change product parts almost over night.

For many items imported into the US there will be little change of manufacturing venue. Technology has afforded countries around the world to make products faster and cheaper than the US. Even countries like Cambodia, Vietnam, and Thailand are now major exporters to the U.S. And, many of the companies that own these operations are U.S. corporations.

Pure Air Systems has been making HEPA based, fan powered air filtration systems in the US since 1985. Everyone of these systems has a made in the USA label on it and all the components are also made in the USA. Knowing that one would think that customers would not consider purchasing any other filtration systems. But that is and was not the case. The PAS line of high end, commercial grade filtration systems is more expensive than the closest competitor but the units are designed to run for 15 to 20 years and they perform exactly as promised. Most of the competitors use cheaper, off shore components and are not made of steel or use the high end ECM variable speed drive motors.

After 32 years PAS has proven that if you make a great product, consistently and deliver what you promise, people and companies will continue to come back and order more. PAS now offers a line of 7 different HEPA systems ranging from the small portable HPS series to our 2000HS Plus units that can move up to 2000 CFM of HEPA filtered air.

Air Filtration

For those people who live and work in colder climates, the amount of time you spend indoors is proportionally more than those individuals who live in warmer climates. In addition colder air is much drier than warm moist air and as a result dust particles and other airborne contaminants tend to stay suspended in air for much longer periods of time.

As humans we inhale large quantities of air every time we take a breath. All of that air is filtered through our mucus membranes and lung linings and a large portion of the particulate are ( those particles larger than 20 microns ) air filtered out and most often projected out of the body when exhaling.

The smaller particles, those under 20 microns and especially those sub-micron particles, are trapped in the lung linings and not exhaled. They are absorbed by the body and then flushed out of the body. However, some of those particulate may be harmful to the body and these may be airborne viruses or bacteria or perhaps some other type of airborne contaminant. Collecting these particulate is what Pure Air Systems does with their HEPA based air filtration systems.

Started in 1985, Pure Air Systems created a line of Air Filters that specifically used true, commercial grade, scanned HEPA filters in all their systems. HEPA filters are the most effective mechanical device for removing 99.99% of all particles 0.3 microns or lager and approaching 99.98% at particles as small as 0.12 microns in size.

These HEPA systems are all fan powered and use the newer ECM variable speed drive motors so they can be used on 120/240 volt 50/60Hz electrical systems and used any where in the world.

The systems range in capacity from 50 CFM ( Cubic Foot Per Minute) up to 2,000 CFM. They can be used either attached to an existing ducted HVAC system in the by-pass configuration or as stand-alone units. These Air Filtration systems can be used in residential, commercial, institutional, medical and industrial applications.

Air Apparent

Pure Air Systems is now 32 years old and is one of the remaining few companies in North America that still makes high end, commercial grade, fan powered HEPA air filtration systems. These systems are designed to provide true HEPA filtered air in a wide variety of applications including but not limited to: commercial, industrial, institutional, medical and residential.

Pure Air Systems makes only one type of HEPA based air filtration system so the residential customer receives the same identical system as the hospital or laboratory. These systems are designed to last a long time and run for years with minimal maintenance other than changing any one of the three filters at regular intervals.

There are a number of models available designed to fit any application and with the ability to be either installed as stand-alone units or being attached to the return air side of any HVAC system; commercial or residential.

Pure Air Systems is now the Air Apparent in this industry as there is only one other company in Europe that makes fan powered HEPA air filtration systems with the ability to handle air flows from less than 50 CFM up to 2000 CFM in a small housing configuration. In addition, the PAS units utilize the newer ECM variable speed drive motors that are rated 120/240 volt 50/6 Hz motors so they can be used anywhere in the world.

Each system has a prefilter, carbon media filter and true HEPA  filter. The systems can be configured to have all Carbon media with one prefilter for applications where only odors and gases are present. Or, they can be configured with two prefilters for applications where high levels of large particulate are present.

Surviving The Zombie Apocalypse

By now we all know that the Zombie Apocalypse was created through a virus developed by some unknown group. You also know by watching the documentary, Walking Dead, that the only way to put down a Zombie for good is to shoot or stab them or remove their head. So if you want to be a Zombie killer and not a member of the walking dead, then you need to pay attention to the rest of this blog. It may save your life!

Since we now know that an airborne virus is the method by which we become infected, the the obvious solution is to not breath in any contaminated air. Hard to do when the infected are now everywhere. But there is a solution. HEPA air filtration.

Started in 1985, Pure Air Systems introduced a commercial grade, fan powered HEPA air filtration system for use in homes, hospitals, schools, office buildings and other commercial facilities. Had all of these potential customers heeded our warning and installed one of our 7 different HEPA filtration models we may have to be writing about this issue today.

The HEPA systems handle up to 2,000 cubic feet of air per minute and can provide a surgery suite/clean room environment in any structure, even your home where you can hide comfortably from the Zombies.

HEPA filters are the only filtration method of significantly removing or reducing the levels of airborne contaminants at an efficiency of 99.99% at 0.3 microns and larger. They are even effective down to 0.12 microns and smaller ( virus size ) and become more efficient over time. …You are already thinking you need one aren’t you?

So, making the decision to buy one of our HEPA filtration systems is a “no brainer” if you get my drift.

HEPA Filtration Systems As Air Booster

Using HEPA filtration systems as air moving boosters is fairly common and in most cases necessary. If you have a multiple number of pick up points from which you want to remove contaminated air you need to understand the concept of air flow resistance or pressure drop.

When moving air through any type of duct system you have to take into consideration the resistance of air flow through the duct especially if it is flexible duct and you have some 45 degree and 90 degree bends. Air flow resistance is measured in inches and the higher the number the greater the resistance the larger the horsepower has to be on the motor/blower system that is moving that air from one point to another.

If you have any type of air filtration device in the air flow system that being used to remove the contaminants you also have to take into account the static pressure loss across that filter as well. If it is a HEPA filter you have a significant pressure drop which needs to be added into the total line loss when designing the blower/motor system.

Pure Air Systems has been making fan powered HEPA based air filtration systems since 1985. They use variable speed drive ECM motors on all their systems that adjust automatically by speeding up as the pressure drop across the HEPA filter increases.

Since Pure Air Systems makes HEPA filtration systems that are fan powered they can be used as boosters for moving air through an entire ducted system to maintain the proper carrying velocities through the ductwork even as the HEPA filters load up.

It takes a lot of power to move air through ductwork and a filter so using the PAS systems makes sense. The models range from 600 CFM to 2000 CFM air flow capability using 1/3, 3/4 or 1 HP ECM motors. PAS is one of the few companies in the world that make high end, fan powered, commercial grade HEPA air filtration systems that can be used as stand-alone systems or in conjunction with a ducted HVAC system or commercial air handlers.

Comprehensive Coverage

When purchasing insurance for home or auto you often look at the section marked “Comprehensive Coverage.” This tells you what is covered under the policy with the price quoted to you. This can include covering medical costs, with certain dollar limits, uninsured motorist, which is good to have and a number of other conditions. It does not, however, cover acts of God, which include Aliens crashing their space craft into your car or large creatures eating your seats while you are parked outside your favorite restaurant. No..Comprehensive does not really mean Comprehensive.

HEPA, high efficiency particulate air ( absolute) filter labels do not necessarily mean that this is a true HEPA filter.

In 1985 Pure Air Systems opened it doors offering their first true, commercial grade HEPA filtration system in their model 600H. These metal framed, scanned, 99.97% at 0.3 microns were the most efficient HEPA filters at the time. Fast forward to today and Pure Air Systems offers the same HEPA filters only these are all rated at 99.99% at o.3 microns and work well in the industrial, commercial, institutional, medical and residential markets. In truth, these filters offer Comprehensive Coverage.

The reduction and/or removal of sub-micron airborne particulate is extremely important in many process and medical applications.Hospitals use 100% HEPA filtered air in their operating rooms to reduce the high risk of infection and all clean rooms that manufacture micro-chips use multiple levels of HEPA and ULPA filters to obtain particulate free room levels down to 99.9995% at 0.12 microns. These are normally listed as Class 10 clean rooms.

In the world of filtration, nothing is as effective in removing harmful airborne particles as HEPA filters. All the CDC labs in Atlanta and WHO facilities around the world use HEPA filters to reduce the potential release of extremely virulent bacteria and viruses as these pathogens can often be deadly.
