Monuments

There is a lot of discussion these days about historical monuments and the issue of whether they should remain or be moved or destroyed. No matter which side you choose the fact remains that these were built for a specific purpose in their time. Many are still standing and a number are now gone.

Many corporations started out creating products that were relevant for their time in the development of our country and it’s industrial base. Over time, many of those companies have either changed completely, went out of business or merged with another larger corporation. Time changes everything.

Pure Air Systems started in 1985 by offering its’ first HEPA based, fan powered air filtration system. At the time it was slightly ahead of the curve as this type of high-end filtration system began to set the standards for high-performance in the area of reduction and/or removal of large percentages of harmful, airborne sub-micron particulate.

Over time, Pure Air Systems saw the opportunity to add larger systems with more airflow capabilities to its product line and began to expand its systems into the commercial, institutional, medical and industrial markets. The addition of the new ECM variable speed motors in 1999 added a new dimension to their product line.

The variable speed motors were magnet driven as apposed to the traditional use of wound motors thus giving PAS the ability to use digital controllers which allowed them to control the airflow in 1% increments. In addition, the motors were rated 120/240 v 50/60 Hz so they could be used anywhere in the world. This propelled the PAS line into another level which lead to the addition of 3 more products to their line.

If PAS was a monument it would probably look slightly different today, 32 years later, than the original built in 1985. Everything changes, nothing remains the same. Technology will move forward in spite of our attempts to slow it down. Time changes everything.

Life Insurance

Life Insurance has many advantages especially if your dependents are on the receiving end of the payout. For you, not so much since your demise benefits other people.

Insurance is designed to cover risk. If you don’t believe that life has risks then don’t get insurance. However, your state requires you have insurance to drive and not having insurance on your home takes real guts…and a large bank account.

This leads us into the discussion of how best to insure ones self with minimal costs and maximum benefits. I am talking about insuring your health. Obviously seeing a Doctor on a regular basis and eating healthy and exercise do matter, but breathing good, clean, pollution free air is also very important.

Pure Air Systems started its business in 1985 selling one of the first true, commercial grade HEPA air filtration systems in the U.S. Beginning with one model over time, PAS developed 6 additional systems over the next decade and today, 32 years after it started, is now one of the major players in the world of HEPA air filtration systems.

These units are designed to be used in residential, commercial, industrial, institutional and medical applications. PAS was the first and is still the only company to apply a large, fan powered HEPA system to any forced air ducted HVAC system in the residential market. Customers who have installed these systems have seen dramatic results in reduction and / or removal of airborne contaminants that can cause severe respiratory dysfunctions.

In addition, the use of the PAS HEPA systems has propelled the companies products into markets all over the world. The use of the variable speed ECM motors in all the units allows them to be used in any country as they can operate on 120/240 50/60Hz electrical systems.

Made In The USA

The USA Olympic team continues to rack up medals this past week and the cheers of “USA USA USA” are prominent at every event. It is interesting that we support our teams with such fervor and yet when it comes to rooting for our own USA based companies we tend to fall flat in our willingness to support Made in the USA products.

In 1985 Pure Air Systems was founded and produced one of the first true commercial grade HEPA filtration systems for the residential market. These units used all American made components and were fabricated from steel and were designed to last for years. Each unit had a sticker on it that had the American Flag and text reading Made In The USA.

Competitors that had alternate air filtration or air purifier systems were often made overseas or assembled in the US with parts from Japan and the US. The PAS systems were more expensive but much more powerful and commercially rated so they had a much better efficiency in removing sub-micron particulate than any of their competitors. Yet, people would look at the price first rather than the country of origin.

Today, Pure Air Systems are made using 100% USA made components with the Made In The USA stickers on each unit. The website proudly states that our products are made in Indiana, USA and they have been for the past 31 years. And while the reputation for high performance is still one of the real features of the PAS line of filtration systems, customers still tend to try the lesser expensive, off-shore filtration systems.

Pricing continues to be the major reason why people purchase a certain product. Perhaps it is due to the large influx of cheap products that have now fallen into the “disposable” column giving customers the rationale that if it only last 2 or 3 years and they will just buy a new one. Buying on-line has also changed the playing field. You can purchase almost anything on Amazon or some of the other on-line stores. Price comparison is easy and again country of origin is does not often come into the decision making process.

Alternate Concepts

Change is difficult; change for many is impossible. When you put your pants on you usually put one leg in before the other. For some it is the right, others the left. This is usually an automatic process. Tomorrow put the other leg in first and see how much that changes your balance and how difficult it is to make that simple change. Yes, as much as we think we are open minded, most of us follow the same paths and (false) truths all of the time.

Studies have shown that when an individual is shown factual, undisputed evidence that does NOT support one of their specific beliefs, 95% of the people won’t accept the new, factual information and would prefer to keep their own wrong beliefs.

This phenomenon is one reason why many people resist changing political parties or religions or even social organization associations. Even if they feel uncomfortable about the process and discussion points made by other members of the group. Their fear of not being accepted by their peers trumps their ability to challenge any issue or individual.

In 1985, Pure Air Systems started their company to offer the best HEPA based, fan powered air filtration systems on the market. They went against the norm of using electronic air cleaners or ozone generators as the standard for airborne contaminant control. HEPA filters were also extremely expensive and were only used in the commercial and electronics industry. Many individuals and HVAC contractors resisted even trying the units as they were locked into the older style of filtration.

Fast forward to 2016. Today, the line of PAS HEPA units is now considered some of the best HEPA based filter systems in North America. Their continued success with new models and the high performance and quality of construction moved the non-believers to buyers and eventually the market for PAS products increased significantly.

Politics Is A Noun

With all the action now taking place on TV showing every candidate from both parties vying for the Presidency, one would think that all the rhetoric about what each candidate will do for the US when elected we would have one of the most progressive governments in the world. Unfortunately there is more fluff than reality in the promises made during these primaries. And we should know this as we have heard this song before since the early 70’s; same stuff different day.

The ability to make false promises and still have someone follow you is somewhat exclusive to politics. While small businesses have often done this to their customers it is not something we often see in larger companies and publicly held companies. And the reason is simple. Customers loyalty today is spelled with a small L. If you promise one thing and deliver another in very short order your company will suffer the exodus of customers as they seek to find a more truthful company path. In politics one can easily shift blame to the past office holder or the lack of agreement by the Congress or Senate and in most cases we buy into that excuse.

Pure Air Systems started promising a new way to clean the air in your home, office, factory or medical facility in 1985. Their goal was to provide true, commercial grade HEPA filtration systems using fan powered units capable of moving up to 2000 CFM. Their first attempt to move this commercial use technology into the home market was the introduction of their model 600H unit. Creating a HEPA system that could be used in a partial by-pass configuration designed to fit onto almost any forced air, ducted heating/cooling system was quickly accepted by the heating/cooling industry and customers alike and the continued success of this concept propelled PAS into developing five more systems.

Today, 31 years later, Pure Air Systems is still fulfilling its promises to the customers both old and new to provide the best HEPA and Carbon based, fan powered, commercial grade air filtration systems in the world.

Build Platform

I spend a lot of my time designing objects with 3D modeling software and printing on one of my 4 3D printers. There are a lot of FFF (fused filament fabrication) 3D printers on the market and we have two with large build platforms approximately 12″ x 12″ square. We can also print an object up to 10″ tall.

In the land of 3D Printers “size matters” very much. As more prototyping is being done on 3D printers the larger the build area the more effective they become in making large parts or objects in one print rather than scaling the object down or printing out separate pieces of the object.

The manufacturing business model is much like 3D printing model. You have to create a workable object, product or pieces and then be able to produce in using the fewest number of parts. The larger the production area the greater the efficiency to produce larger parts or assemblies.

Pure Air Systems, Inc. started their business making commercial grade HEPA, fan powered air filtration systems back in 1985 and working out of a garage. There was little room for component parts and filters so much of the assembly was done using outside contractors. While this worked for a while, as the business grew, PAS required more space to start work on prototyping larger systems for their growing commercial business.

By 1998 PAS was moving into a 9,000 sq. ft. building with enough room to stock all the components for its then seven model HEPA systems. The extra space also allowed for more efficient assembly and faster turn out of products. In addition, all of the replacement filters could be stored in the facility so spare filters, parts and units could be shipped from one location usually in one to three days.

As 3D Printing continues to innovate itself almost weekly adding faster printers, larger build platforms and the use of newer, stronger filament materials, it is possible that Pure Air Systems may eventually move into 3D printing or Additive Manufacturing as it is now called, for the production of some of its components. Size does matter.

Arduino or Raspberry Pi

Talk to any Elementary school student and the majority of them have either heard of or are working with Arduino Uno or Raspberry Pi mini-computers that can be programmed to drive almost any device. These small, inexpensive drivers are being used in robotics, drone design, optics, cameras, etc, etc. The use of these devices allow anyone with an interest in digital electronics  to effectively learn how to create new concepts and do some minimal programming ( coding ) as well.

Many of the new drone designs ( both copter and winged versions ) use Raspberry Pi computers to control the operation of the drone in all aspects of its flight and telemetry systems. They come is kit form  or purchased as individual modules and the sky is the limit as to what you can build and operate with these new technical toys.

Developing new technology and making it easy to use is one reason why some products make it and others don’t. Pure Air Systems, Inc. is one of those companies that added new technology to their products and make it work better and with more flexibility in operation and customer control.

Started in 1985, Pure Air Systems’ goal was to provide the best, high performance, commercial grade HEPA based, fan powered air filtration systems on the market. Thirty years later and PAS is now one of the leaders in the HEPA filtration arena. With customers located around the world, PAS has created a series of HEPA and Carbon based systems that incorporated the variable speed , ECM motors that would operate in both 120/240 volt, 50/60Hz power sources. In addition, PAS incorporated new digital speed controllers that gave the customers infinite control over the speed and volume produced by the units.

PAS also developed a process whereby you could add more Carbon or other adsorbtive medias with the HEPA, or in the case of applications where gaseous pollutants were the main issue, an all Carbon unit could be used. Flexibility in design, filtration media types and volume control ( CFM ) are the reasons PAS continues to be a leader in this field.

Air Filtration For Dummies

As simple as it may seem, most people have very little knowledge of how an air filter, home, car, industrial, commercial institutional varieties actually work.  There is an assumption that the filter media itself does all the filtering and the more dense the media the better. While denser media is certainly more effective at removing finer, smaller particles, these types of filter media also have a much higher resistance or pressure drop both initially and when they load up with dust and dirt. Also, the filter media is really just the base for what really does all the filtering of the fine, sub-micron airborne particulate.

Most filters today use a MERV rating to indicate their level or efficiency with the higher number being more dense and more effective at initially removing fine particulate and the lower numbers being more of a general duty filtering capability. However, if a MERV 18 filter is best for fine particulate removal even a MERV 6 or 8 rated filter will eventually reach the same overall efficiency of the MERV 18 filter, and here is the reason.

Even with “see through” filter medias, the internal areas of the filter fibers will, over time, fill up with larger airborne particles and make the passage ways through the media smaller and smaller eventually capturing even sub-micron dust particles as they are trapped in the now mostly blocked filter media. Unfortunately as the filter loads up the air resistance through the filter increases to the level where is significantly restricts the airflow through the filter and will reduce the performance of the fan and/or air handler.

Therefore, most HVAC filters are relatively open or low on the MERV scale so they will last at least 3 months before needed to be changed. For applications where a MERV 18 filter or true HEPA filter is required, a more powerful blower/motor assembly will be required along with a prefilter to keep the final filters from loading up too quickly.

A good, medium duty, Merv 6 or 7 rated filter is fine for most general duty applications. These give you best filtration performance over the life of the filter.

Execution

Execution can mean a number of things as in the execution of a will or the execution of an individual, but the more important use of this word applies to those companies that can execute their business plan and perform above the level of their competition.

The speed of technology growth, change, innovation and adaption is mind-blowing. One only has to search the internet for all the open source forums to see how much new information is being exchanged on a daily basis to understand why it is so important that companies execute their programs extremely well with market consistency.

Execution also means adapting new technology, designs and manufacturing processes on a regular basis to keep  innovation in your execution plan as customers are more apt to purchase your product if it incorporates much of the latest technological advances that work in concert with their digital devices. Execution also means that the components of the device will function well allowing the product to perform as expected and within the operational promise of the manufacturer.

Pure Air Systems started manufacturing HEPA based fan powered air filtration devices since 1985 and continues to adapt new new technologies to enhance the execution of the product and ensure that its reputation for long-term operation with minimal down-time. The switch from induction motors to the new ECM, electrically commutated motors allowed PAS to use digital controllers, operated the systems based on pressure drop and provide 1% incremental fan speed control to better fit some of the newer volume sensitive applications. In addition, these variable speed drive motors can operate on 120 volt or 240 volt, 50/60 Hz electrical current which meant they could be used anywhere in the world.

In 2015 Pure Air Systems will introduce a new system designed specifically for the medical market. The APPAIS unit will be the first new product from Pure Air Systems since the HPS Portable unit was introduced in 2006. This FDA certified unit will be used as a prophylactic anywhere injections are done. This includes clinics, pharmacies, Doctor’s offices, hospitals, schools and even tattoo parlors.  Look for the new APPAIS in 2015  and see how the new unit incorporates a design requiring no tools for assembly, or operation.

Execution and Performance are the key words in the delivery of any product in this every changing world market place we live in. For more information go to our webs site at: https://www.pureairsystems.com  or call us on our toll-free number at : 800-869-8025.

Short And Sweet Is The New Trend

Marketing any product, service, company or individual requires the use of some form of media. Social media is certainly one of the more popular and effective methods along with print advertising, video and the more expensive radio and TV advertising. However, the massive growth and use of social media; especially Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, have changed the way people gather information. Since most social media uses short text or attachment concepts, and people are connecting with their mobile devices more often than they use any other digital device, the public has become conditioned to getting information in small bits and pieces, rarely ever reading anything longer than 250 words. These blogs are approximately 500 words for that very reason.

Pure Air Systems, a company founded in 1985, manufactures a line of commercial grade HEPA and Carbon based fan powered air filtration systems. In 1985 there was no internet and most of the marketing was done via phone, telex, print advertising and good old get out and meet the customer techniques. Having long conversations and providing pages of information and documentation was essential in gaining the favor of potentially new customers. They even wanted to contact your existing customers by phone or personal visit to confirm that what you were selling would actually work for their application.

The advent of the internet changed forever the way information was transmitted. Instead of just contacting one customer at a time, now you could have your information out for anyone, anywhere to view 24/7. And, they could contact you via email to get more information, orders your products or send you information on their specific application without ever leaving their office. The world was your oyster..so to speak.

The use of websites grew and they became your first face to the new customers. It now became important to have as much easily accessible data, including photos, specifications, drawings, etc. on your website so your new potential customers could evaluate your product or service without ever talking to you directly. Pure Air Systems had a website in 1995 and since that time almost 70% of all their new business is generated primarily from the website. Customers can order systems or replacement filters anytime through the store portal, pay by credit card or PayPal and receive their confirmation and shipping information within minutes of placing their order. Fast, efficient and very convenient.

As the speed of sending and getting information increased and the amount of information grew, the social media system developed new ways to send and share information in less than 140 characters. This is where we are today. As we become overloaded with data we, as a self-preservation technique, buy into the short and sweet method of communications. Pure Air Systems has a new system they are marketing and the new four page flyer has more pictures than it is text. It is the new way of connecting. Whether we like it or not.
